Continuing Professional Education

  • Our MissionContinuing professional education

Our mission is simple – to help educators advance their careers.

We do that by offering a variety of high-quality professional development through:

    • Act 48 Workshops - Act 48 workshops provide a wide range of opportunities to assist educators attain the required hours needed to maintain certification.  Participants who meet all requirements will have their hours reported to the PA Department of Education.

    • Advanced Placement® (AP) Summer Institute - Endorsed by the College Board®, AIU's four-day AP summer institute is designed to equip teachers with content and resources to enhance their teaching of AP courses. AIU's annual AP summer institute also provides a wonderful opportunity for teachers, from all across the United States, to exchange ideas and information with their professional peers and to become a member of an extended professional learning community.

    • Continuing Professional Education Courses - Offering a wide variety of graduate-level credit courses to educators during three academic terms (fall, spring and summer) throughout the year. CPE course credits can be used to fulfill the requirements associated with obtaining Level II certification, Master's Equivalency certification and Act 48.

    • Educator Induction Program - An approved educator induction program for new Level I professional educators. Public school districts, CTC, private and charter schools from across the region enroll educators in this highly regarded program that is designed to help novice educators acclimate to the demands of working in a school environment. Offered in a convenient online format, participating educators are guided by subject matter experts through the domains that are critical to professional educators. Upon successful completion of the educator induction program, educators earn three graduate credits that can be applied toward Level II certification. AIU's educator induction program is a convenient way for your school district, CTC, private and charter school to meet its obligation to provide a comprehensive teacher induction program for new employees at a reasonable cost.
