Special Education Administrative Support

  • School districts contracting with the Special Education Program for direct program operation receive administration and supervision as part of the service package.  Contracts for services are flexible to ensure that supervisors are available to participate in ongoing development that brings new learning to the district.

  • Program Services

    • Ongoing compliance with and implementation of existing State and Federal laws, regulations and standards
    • Development, implementation and distribution of necessary forms and procedures
    • Specially designed curricula/curriculum adaptations/modifications
    • Access to local and national resources, e.g., applications of research and access to recognized experts
    • Provision and training of teacher and aide substitutes
    • Related services: Nursing, Occupational/Physical Therapy, Speech/Language, Vision, Hearing, etc.
    • Adaptations to school district planned instruction to meet IEP requirements
    • Expert testimony at Due Process hearings is available

  • Teacher and Student Services

    • Progress monitoring
    • ER/IEP development
    • Individualized/small group/large group instruction and/or other services
    • Facilitation of home/school communication; parent conferences and consultation
    • Inclusion of children with disabilities with their typical peers to the maximum extent appropriate
    • Positive Behavior Support Plans
    • Training in the use of instructional, assistive and other specialized equipment
    • Transition planning

  • Supervisory Services

    Supervision of experienced, certificated and highly qualified professional staff (including teacher and clinicians) and of experienced paraprofessional staff.  Flexible supervisor schedule can be arranged to accommodate attendance at meetings and the expertise to conduct professional development sessions regarding Special Education Laws and regulations both federal and state, facilitate progress monitoring and participate on school improvement planning teams.  Additional supervisory services include:

    • Training of teachers in IEP Framework
    • Clinical supervision
    • Consultation with teachers, school building staff and outside agencies
    • Classroom observations and instructional recommendations
    • On-going professional development in classroom management and instructional techniques
