Project SEEKS SES
The AIU is excited to announce Project SEEKS SES, a new collaborative partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) to support social and emotional health in area school districts. Funded by a $10 million grant, the new program, entitled Supporting Expansion and Enhancement of K-12 School-Based Social, Emotional Supports (Project SEEKS SES), will support area school districts in addressing COVID-19 related trauma, behavior and mental health issues.

Educator Induction Program
AIU offers a PDE-approved, two-year educator induction program for Level I professional educators, long-term substitutes, and educational specialists. Public school districts, charter schools, private schools and other school entities across Pennsylvania trust the Allegheny Intermediate Unit to assist their novice educators in acclimating to the demands of working in a contemporary school environment.

AIU Safety & Security
The AIU's director of Safety & Security, Aaron Skrbin, provides schools with timely school safety information and workshops, organizes school safety training exercises with partner agencies, consults on policies and procedures, provides support during crises, serves as the liaison between the Allegheny County Office of Emergency Services and member schools and represents the interests of schools at the Allegheny County Emergency Operations Center.
