    Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Institute

    Allegheny Intermediate Unit is a College Board ® endorsed provider of our annual Advanced Placement ® (AP) Summer Institute.

    Held each summer during the last week of June, our AP Summer Institute draws educators from across the United States and overseas.

    This wonderful professional learning summer institute is facilitated by AP course consultants and subject-matter experts who have a depth of experience and knowledge of AP courses.

    Highlights from the 2021 APSI

    Here are some highlights from last year's virtual AP Summer Institute:

    • AIU ran eight virtual AP course workshops over five days during the last week of June, 2021.
    • AP workshop instructors used AIU's Canvas learning management system, Zoom and Google Classroom to facilitate asynchronous and synchronous portions of their workshops.
    • AP course teachers from across eight U.S. states, Canada and Europe participated in our five-day virtual APSI.
    • AIU received a high satisfaction rating from among attendees, who expressed gratitude to AIU and the College Board for offering the APSI in a virtual format for a second year.

    Advanced Placement Summer Institutes for 2022

    This summer, the AIU will host in‑person and virtual College Board-endorsed AP Summer Institute events, which are designed to equip teachers with content and resources to enhance their teaching of AP courses. 

    In-Person APSI will be held June 27 – June 30 at South Fayette Township High School, located in suburban Pittsburgh approximately 20 miles south of city-center.

    In-person workshops include: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science A, Environmental Science, and Psychology. The four-day AP workshops will be offered between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and include 30 hours of professional development programming. Learn more and register for the AIU’s in-person APSI events.

     Virtual APSI will be held June 27 – July 1

    Virtual workshops include: Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Computer Science Principles, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, European History, Spanish Language and Culture, Statistics, U.S. Government & Politics, U.S. History, and World History: Modern. The five-day AP workshops will be offered between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., EST, and include 30 hours of personal development programming. Learn more and register for the AIU’s virtual APSI events.
