A Public Agency & Private Schools
The Non-Public Schools Program (Act 89) allocates state money to intermediate units to provide auxiliary services for non-public school students according to provisions set forth in the Pennsylvania Code, Title 22, Education, Chapter 112, Auxiliary Services for non-public school students. A non-public school means a non-profit school other than a public school wherein a resident of the Commonwealth may legally fulfill compulsory school attendance requirements.
Our Mission
The mission of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, Non-Public Schools Program (Act 89) is to provide effective and efficient support services for non-public school students and their families to maximize their potential in an ever-changing society.
Our Goals
The goals of the Non-Public Schools Program are to:
- Continually examine the delivery of services to ensure that they are cost effective.
- To develop and implement dynamic partnerships with the Public Schools, Non-Public School Personnel, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
- To improve communications among Allegheny Intermediate Unit Personnel, Non-Public School Administrators, Staff, Parents, PDE, the Community, Diocese, and Private School Officials.
- Explore innovative and creative ways to deliver Act 89 services to non-public school children and their families.
