Remake Learning Days is an annual festival held in May.  A variety of organizations (libraries, schools, museums, employers, community centers, and more) host free events for all age groups and provide hands-on learning opportunities. The festival’s organizers partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Career Ready PA initiative to highlight the valuable connection between hands-on learning, employability skills, and career readiness. Each year over 100 school districts participated in events affiliated with Career Ready PA’s Backpack Challenge and earned badges and artifacts for their career portfolio. The Backpack Challenge incorporated PA Career Ready employability “soft” skills, such as collaboration and critical thinking, with the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards in a variety of educational, hands-on sessions. Through their participation, students related these skills and reflected on how that skill-building can prepare them for a future career. Check out the blog on the Remake Learning website.

Education Week highlighted the event in an article, Want to Spark Students' Interest in STEM?  Initiative Brings Parents Into That Effort.
