On October 19, the AIU and Project SEEKS SES held its third virtual community of practice meeting. The meeting revolved around Penn Hills' YESS (Youth Engagement Support Services) team.

Each community of practice meeting will focus on a shared topic of interest between school district, higher education and community partners. Each meeting will be facilitated by the Project SEEKS SES coordinator, Shannon Fagan, in conjunction with a school district/university partner and subject matter expert. During this meeting, Penn Hills' acting superintendent Dawn Golden spoke about the effectiveness of the YESS team, a group of seven full-time employees contracted through Pressley Ridge. The YESS team helps handle conflict, secure the hallways and participates in mediations and family conferences, among other things.

Additionally, members of the YESS team shared their perspective on the impact they've had at Penn Hills. Pressley Ridge's satellite program director, Michelle Woodward, also shared her perspective.
