Solid Stuff: Using Materials Science to Engage and Excite Students
November 13, 2024 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Explore hands-on materials science activities to engage students in STEAM at this free transformED Educator Workshop.
This session provides STEAM teachers with several simple, engaging materials science activities to incorporate into the STEAM classroom. As the world becomes increasingly technological, students need to understand the applications of science and technology in their everyday lives.
Hands-on activities are a great way to engage students with the applications of materials science and engineering to the world around them. Solid-state chemistry is often overlooked in the classroom and materials science provides a great way to introduce and illustrate the properties of solids – such as metals, ceramics, and polymers. These hands-on activities provide engaging activities for students to gain an understanding of materials science and the applications of materials in the world around them
