Empowering students to communicate, connect, and engage
The AIU Speech/Language Support Program provides specialized services for students who have difficulty with speech, language, or communication. Our goal is to strengthen each student’s ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and fully engage in their learning environments.
How we support students
Services are individualized to meet each student’s needs and may be provided in a variety of settings. Students build essential communication skills, including:
- Expressing thoughts, ideas, and needs clearly
- Understanding spoken language and directions
- Developing speech sound production
- Strengthening social communication skills
- Improving listening and comprehension
- Building confidence in communication
Services provided
- Individual and small group speech/language therapy
- Classroom-based support and instruction
- Speech and language evaluations and consultations
- Access to specialists (auditory processing, feeding, swallowing, autism)
- Short-term or extended coverage for districts
- Diagnostic support for second opinions when requested
- Collaboration with school teams and families
Eligibility
Students may be referred through screenings or by parents, teachers, school teams, or outside agencies. A comprehensive evaluation determines eligibility and services.
