The AEP boasts over a 50 year history of educational success with students from urban and suburban neighborhoods in Allegheny County.
Who we serve
Students in Allegheny County in grades 7-12 who have been temporarily excluded from a traditional school setting. Students referred to the Alternative Education Program's community schools from Allegheny County schools meet the PA guidelines for alternative education for disrupted youth. The program also serves students in juvenile court locations (Shuman Detention Center, Allegheny County Jail, & Auberle).

Where we are located
The Alternative Education Program operates alternative schools approved by the PA Department of Education. In addition, we offer students at Shuman Detention Center, the Allegheny County Jail, and Auberle an opportunity to continue their education while detained.
