Waterfront Learning, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s virtual learning program, has earned national accreditation for providing high-quality online education to students and school districts across Pennsylvania.
The accreditation, awarded by AccredVEd, recognizes virtual learning programs that meet nationally recognized standards for quality. Waterfront Learning is one of only two virtual education programs in Pennsylvania to receive the distinction.
The recognition reflects Waterfront Learning’s commitment to helping school districts expand learning opportunities through flexible online and hybrid programs while providing students with the support they need to succeed.
“This accreditation is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said Jill Manczka, program director of Waterfront Learning. “We are proud to partner with school districts to provide flexible learning options that meet students where they are while maintaining high expectations for teaching and learning.”
Waterfront Learning works with school districts to provide customized virtual learning solutions for K-12 students. Districts can choose from a variety of services, including online courses taught by certified teachers, professional development for educators, and the option to have their own teachers deliver Waterfront Learning courses.
Students also have access to a wide range of learning opportunities, including Advanced Placement courses, world languages, credit recovery, test preparation, and specialized electives that may not otherwise be available in their home districts.
The accreditation process included a comprehensive review by experienced virtual learning professionals from across the country. Reviewers recognized Waterfront Learning for its strong partnerships with school districts, student-centered approach, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Powered by the Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance, AccredVEd evaluates virtual education programs using the National Standards for Quality Online Programs. The accreditation provides confidence to school districts, families, and educators that Waterfront Learning meets rigorous national standards for online education.
