Dr. Robert Scherrer
Dr. Robert Scherrer is the executive director of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. He previously served as the superintendent and assistant superintendent for K-12 education at North Allegheny School District. During his career, Dr. Scherrer has held leadership positions at several area schools and school districts. He served as principal of both the Pittsburgh Science & Technology Academy and Allderdice High School within Pittsburgh Public Schools. He held the positions of assistant principal and co-principal for curriculum and instruction within the Woodland Hills School District. He also served as assistant principal at Peters Township High School. Dr. Scherrer began his career in education as a secondary educator at Baldwin High School in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District.
Dr. Scherrer received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Education as well as his principal’s certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He earned his superintendent’s letter of eligibility and a doctorate in Administrative and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, where his dissertation focused on teacher evaluation.
Over the years Dr. Scherrer has been an active member of numerous professional organizations and associations and has presented at a number of national, state and regional conferences. He has also received a number of professional awards and recognitions during his career.
