Homestead’s youngest learners gathered around an indoor campground to immerse themselves in the fun of reading under the “stars.” Kids followed along as Family Development Specialist Ms. Robin Mercuri read “Maisy Goes Camping” by Lucy Cousins, featuring campground activities, “stargazing,” and s’mores. The event is part of a monthly story time series created by the AIU, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, and the Grable Foundation to provide a space for new readers to engage with stories while building their literacy skills together.

With help from Scholastic Inc., the center gave out new books to the kids, encouraging them to discover the fun of reading at home. We thank Scholastic Inc. for helping us to give the gift of reading to kids in the Homestead community.
