Our 2026 Winter/Spring issue of AIU Connections is here! In a world where the digital landscape is evolving at lightning speed, this issue centers on a theme that touches every classroom and community — cybersecurity in education. From protecting sensitive data to preparing students for high-demand careers, schools are navigating both the opportunities and responsibilities of an increasingly connected world.

The Pittsburgh Regional Cyberhub is helping districts build stronger pathways into cybersecurity careers by connecting educators with vetted curricula, university partners, and industry mentors. We also spotlight innovative cybersecurity classes taking root in local schools, where hands-on learning is giving students early exposure to in-demand skills, real-world problem solving, and meaningful career pathways in one of the fastest-growing fields in technology. At the same time, the AIU’s Digital Trust Hub is supporting schools behind the scenes — strengthening cybersecurity readiness, reinforcing data privacy practices, and helping districts make informed, secure EdTech decisions.

But this issue goes beyond digital defense. You’ll also read how the AIU is strengthening early childhood education through community partnerships and the OT/PT initiative, Defenders of Play, supporting young learners and the educators who serve them. We spotlight the launch of Open Doors, a new AIU podcast elevating real voices and real solutions around student mental wellness. And we explore how schools are reframing accessibility as innovation — designing learning environments that work better for every student.

Together, these stories reflect a shared commitment across our region: to protect, to innovate, and to support the whole learner. This issue highlights the people and partnerships shaping a more secure and supportive future for education.
