The AIU would like to recognize the talented staff in our home-based visiting programs. As part of our mission to serve every learner, our home-based visitors in our Early Childhood Ed and Family/Community Education programs meet families where they’re at to address their educational or developmental needs. Home visitors build relationships with the families they support, help identify and plan goals, and connect them with crucial resources as needed.
Today we’re recognizing Michele Stillwagon, a home-based visitor for the AIU’s Head Start Program! Michele brings her 41 years of Early Childhood Ed experience to support families and their children with home-based learning. Michele currently works with 11 families to set goals, track childhood development, and connect them with health and wellness resources. For Michele, the most rewarding part of home-visiting is when families reach out and share important milestones and events in their child’s development.
“Building relationships is the best part of this work,” said Stillwagon. “I appreciate all the families that welcome me into their homes and to engage with their child’s education journey.”
Parents are the first teacher in their children’s lives, and our home-visiting staff work with families to ensure they have the tools to find success in health, wellness, and development in their journey.
