Sunrise School Principal David Campos recognized as Penguins MVP

Sunrise School Principal David Campos was recently recognized as a 2026 Pittsburgh Penguins Most Valuable Principal. Students, staff, and supporters of Sunrise School gathered on March 13 for a surprise celebration of his achievement.

Campos, who has spent more than two decades in education, said the relationships he builds with students are what make the work meaningful.

“There’s something about the connection you build with these kids,” Campos said. “They just have this love of life. There’s a joy that fills the building.”

Campos is one of 15 regional principals honored this year through the Pens MVP program, presented by the AIU and the Grable Foundation. Honorees are recognized at a Penguins game and receive a Penguins prize pack, a customized jersey, and a $1,000 donation to their school for a project of their choice.
