The AIU, in partnership with the Eradicate Hate Global Summit, hosted the Eradicate Hate Student Summit Reconvening on March 9 at Acrisure Stadium. Following up from the student event at the global summit last September, the reconvening showcased the initiatives and successes from 27 schools in Allegheny County related to the goals of Eradicate Hate in their own districts. Over 300 students shared their projects with peers from other districts to compare strategies and learn from one another in their goal to make their schools a more inclusive space.
The event featured speakers such as Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor, former Pittsburgh Steeler Will Allen, and student representatives from the attending schools. Four students were awarded for their leadership in organizing projects in their home districts to combat hate in all its forms, especially through the promotion of kindness and active civic engagement. The AIU congratulates Aubrie Moon from Woodland Hills, Amina Babajanov from Keystone Oaks High School, Ronnie Acrie from South Allegheny High School, and Maddie Dick from South Fayette.
