Highlands Family Center received a $5,000 United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania grant, in partnership with the Heinz Endowments, to respond to the recent lapse in SNAP benefits. With these funds, the Highlands Family Center will provide local families with pantry staples, produce (when available), and kid-friendly options to ensure homes have consistent access to nutritious food. This grant enables our centers to continue the important work of addressing food insecurity and other needs in our communities.
The AIU’s family centers support the various needs of our Allegheny County communities with routine food drives in collaboration with external agencies such as 412 Food Rescue, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and more.
