Holiday highlights at Mon Valley School

This holiday season, students at Mon Valley School have been learning, creating and spreading cheer throughout the school and the surrounding community.

Life Skills Support students designed and sold handmade Christmas ornaments through their student-run business, LSS Creations. The project provided real-world experience in teamwork, production, communication, and money management while allowing students to share their talents with the Mon Valley community.

Vocational programs across the school also showcased creativity and skill development. Print Shop students designed festive shirts, operated heat presses, and learned to use a 3D printer. In Industrial Production and Maintenance, students measured, cut, sanded, and assembled pallet Christmas trees, combining hands-on instruction with seasonal creativity. Caregiver Vocational students helped spread winter cheer by preparing and sharing snowman snack mix and hosting a two-day Elf Workshop for both secondary and elementary students. From planning and organization to leading STEAM activities, students demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout the event.

Classrooms joined in the seasonal learning, as well. In Room 214, students explored winter concepts through a hands-on science experiment, making homemade ice cream while practicing cooperation, turn-taking, and experiential learning.

The holiday fun continued in the gym, where students participated in Santa Kickball, hosted by physical education teachers and a special guest. The event brought smiles and spirit to the entire school.

Through creative projects and meaningful learning experiences, Mon Valley students made this holiday season one to remember!
