Education for Children & Youth Experiencing Homelessness

  • The Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness program works with local school districts to support homeless youth in K-12 schools in Allegheny County and Southwestern PA.  

     

    The main objectives of the Education for Children & Youth Experiencing Homelessness program are:

    • Inform local school districts of their responsibilities to homeless children and youth
    • Increase awareness about the needs of homeless children
    • Identify and overcome possible educational barriers
    • Explain current legislation and policies
    • Provide practical tips for working with homeless children 
  • The AIU's Education for Children & Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) program serves the following counties:

    • Allegheny
    • Beaver
    • Bedford
    • Fayette
    • Fulton
    • Greene
    • Somerset
    • Washington
    • Westmoreland
