  • Our family support offerings are designed to provide essential resources that support the growth of healthy families in Allegheny County.

     

    Programs

     

    Penn Hills After School Program

    This program provides a safe and structured place for children of working parents in the Penn Hills area. The after school program assists children in grades K-6 with improving their academic achievement, social interaction skills, and school attendance. Children are transported to the center from their respective schools and provided with educational support, enrichment activities, recreation and cultural opportunities.

    Family Support Centers 

    Family Support Centers are community-based sites serving families in the Clairton, Duquesne, East Allegheny, Highlands, McKeesport, Penn Hills, Pittsburgh City School, Steel Valley, Sto Rox, West Mifflin and Wilkinsburg school districts. Services include home visits, employment support, developmental assessments and transportation.

    Fatherhood Initiative

    The AIU's Fatherhood Initiative is designed to work with and support fathers as they overcome parenting and workplace challenges.

    ISAC (Immigrants, Servies and Connections)

    This immigrant-focused program utilizes experts who are well-versed in serving the growing immigrant community in Western Pennsylvania.

    Teen Parenting Program (Project ELECT)

    Project ELECT assists pregnant and parenting teens in Allegheny County K-12 schools and helps them continue their education while dealing with the challenges of having young children. Teens are encouraged to seek higher education opportunities and develop career goals.
