SUMMARY:The Dynamic Learning Maps in Action: Instructional Planning
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Training and Consultation team for this HYBRID training series. \n\n\nThrough two in-person training days and two one-hour networking sessions\, this series moves use of the DLM from a PASA assessment score report into a practical tool for instruction and IEP development. Participants will use student specific data alongside the DLM Essential Elements\, Linkage Levels\, and Mini-Maps to identify starting points for instruction\, build learning progressions\, and design meaningful goals\, objectives\, unit and lesson plans aligned to current performance. \nDay 1 focuses on interpreting prior year PASA DLM results into instructional entry points\, connecting Essential Elements across grade levels\, and building unit and lesson plans using high leverage precursor skills. Participants will also be introduced to the updated Science Essential Elements. \nDay 2 builds on implementation experience and shifts into refining IEP Present Level of Academic & Function Performance (PLAAFP) statements\, developing measurable annual goals and short-term objectives\, and using DLM linkage levels to strengthen alignment between assessment data\, instruction\, and IEP development. \nDuring both days\, dedicated workshop time allows for both independent work time and collaborative problem solving to ensure instruction is grounded in meaningful\, accessible learning progressions. \nDay 1: The DLM In Action: Instructional Planning\n\n\nDate: September 29\, 2026 \nTime: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM \nLocation: McAuliffe Room\, Allegheny Intermediate Unit\, 475 East Waterfront Drive\, Homestead\, PA 15120 \n\n\nLearn more and Register

SUMMARY:TCCAC Annual Meeting Series: Fostering Success Beyond the IEP
DESCRIPTION:Pennsylvania’s transition community has a long-standing legacy of supporting youth and young adults in successfully navigating the transition from school to adult life. Since 1990\, Pennsylvania’s Local Transition Coordinating Councils (LTCCs) have played a critical role in fostering collaboration\, alignment\, and shared responsibility among stakeholders. \nFor the 2026–2027 school year\, the Transition Coordinating Council of Allegheny County (TCCAC) will host four full-day\, in-person meetings. These sessions are intentionally designed to provide dedicated time for high-quality professional learning\, cross-agency networking\, strategic coordination\, and the development of practical tools and resources. Each meeting will engage transition coordinators\, educators\, administrators\, families\, and agency partners in meaningful learning experiences focused on strengthening collaboration\, enhancing problem-solving\, and improving coordinated supports for transition-age youth with disabilities. \nThe series emphasizes building systems and practices that empower students to successfully navigate their individualized pathways toward graduation\, identify postsecondary outcomes and foster success beyond the IEP. Participants are encouraged to attend all council meetings to maximize opportunities to expand their professional networks\, deepen their knowledge and expertise\, access valuable resources\, and stay informed about upcoming initiatives and events that support their work and community connections. \nTCCAC SESSION 1\n\n\nDate: 9/23/2026 \nTime: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM \nLocation: McGuffey & Sullivan Rooms\, Allegheny Intermediate Unit\, 475 East Waterfront Drive\, Homestead\, PA 15120 \nRegister and Learn More

SUMMARY:OpenSciEd User Group; 2026-2027 school year
DESCRIPTION:Is your district piloting or adopting OpenSciEd science instructional materials? This user group can provide a way to learn more & connect. \n\n\n\n\nWelcome to the OpenSciEd User Group! \nThe Math & Science Collaborative (AIU MSC) is hosting a K-12 OpenSciEd (OSE) User Group during the 2026-2027 school year. This professional learning provides both new and experienced implementers of OpenSciEd at any grade level the opportunity to learn more about skillfully teaching with this high-quality set of science instructional materials. While OSE embodies our PA STEELS standards as well as the shifts called for by A Framework for K–12 Science Education (NRC\, 2012)\, these changes in classroom practice can be a heavy lift! That is where the OSE User Group can help. We will delve into common questions and concerns raised by our local OSE-implementing school districts\, and we will provide opportunities to connect with other OSE-implementors throughout the region. \nCome and join our group for a professional learning experience full of learning\, collaborating\, and connecting that will benefit you\, your colleagues\, and your students! \n\n\n\n\nWHO: \nAny educators piloting (planning to pilot)\, implementing\, or supporting implementation of OpenSciEd Instructional Materials at any grade level(s) \nWHEN: \nSeptember 9\, 2026 \nNovember 16\, 2026 \nJanuary 7\, 2027 \nMarch 11\, 2027 \nWHERE: \nAllegheny Intermediate Unit (475 E. SUMMARY:The Dynamic Learning Maps in Action: IEP Development
\nDay 2: The DLM In Action: IEP Development\n\n\nDate: January 28\, 2027 \nTime: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM \nLocation: Dewey Room\, Allegheny Intermediate Unit\, 475 East Waterfront Drive\, Homestead\, PA 15120 \nLearn more and Register

The summit’s speakers\, mostly gamers themselves\, play important roles in the gaming industry\, and reflect the diversity of career options that exist in this field.  \nDon’t miss this chance to open new doors for your students and inspire the next generation of gaming innovators. \n \n*Important Registration Notes: \n\nEach school may bring up to about 10 students to attend this innovative summit. Only complete one registration per school.  No specific student information will be required upon registration\, just an estimated number of students attending; we will collect this closer to the event.\nThis event filled up quickly last year!  Due to limited space\, please only register if you fully expect to be able to attend (though we understand that things come up!).\nIf you attended last year\, we kindly ask you to bring a different group of students so a greater number of individuals will ultimately be able to access this unique opportunity.\n\nBackground | Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center houses a graduate program designed to help students prepare for careers in interactive entertainment as it is applied across different fields. Through a curriculum that emphasizes leadership\, communication\, and innovation\, the ETC seeks to turn talented students from myriad professional and academic backgrounds into creative professionals. \nWho Should Attend | Middle and high school educators interested in encouraging girls to participate in gaming and to explore the diverse range of careers that exist in the industry. These educators should bring students who participate in gaming\, are interested in participate in gaming\, or may be well-suited for one of the many career opportunities in the gaming industry. This is a great event for girls to see women represented in the field. \nLunch will be provided.
