SUMMARY:Get Your Hands-On FUN and Meaningful Assessment (Elementary)
DESCRIPTION:  \nFree transformED Educator Workshop\nUncover how to capture real-time learning & transform assessments into interactive experiences at our hands-on workshop at Children’s Museum\nNothing engages students like hands-on learning and play\, but what happens when the fun is over and it’s time to finish the project or assess how much students learned? \nThis workshop at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh starts by exploring the learning that is actually happening as students tinker\, explore\, and create regardless of the actual product created. We then dive into strategies for capturing that learning in real time\, reducing or even eliminating the need for additional assessment. We close by looking at curriculum-based materials and assessments to explore strategies for transforming them into interactive experiences that reveal so much more than just right answers. \n*Note: Complimentary parking information will be provided to registrants prior to the event. \nBackground | Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh has once again been voted as the #2 children’s museum in the nation by USA Today’s “10Best” Readers’ Choice Contest. This is the fifth year for our museum to be honored in the contest for our innovative and inclusive experiences that inspire kindness\, joy\, creativity and curiosity for all learners. \nWho Should Attend | Elementary Educators and Administrators \nLunch will be provided. \n**Special Location | 10 Children’s Way\, Pittsburgh\, PA 15212 \n  \nRegister on Eventbrite\n  \nLearn more about transformED

Importantly\, the participant will strengthen his or her ability and skill set to write comprehensive\, legally defensible IEPs. \nAs a part of this workshop\, participants will engage in enhancing an IEP for a student on their current caseload. Participants will need the following: \n\nA computer\nA current IEP for a student whose annual meeting date will occur within the next three months\nA printed copy AND electronic version of the selected student’s current current IEP document (MSWord or Google Doc)\n\nWe will not be working on your district’s IEP paperwork platform\n\n\nAn Evaluation Report and/or Re-evaluation Report for the selected student\nPrinted copies and/or ensure digital access to the selected student’s assessment data (PSSA\, Keystones\, PASA)\nEnsure access to district utilized assessment platforms (IXL\, STAR\, TeachTown\, EdInsight) and the selected student’s data\n\n  \nPlease note this workshop includes exercises in writing more meaningful and compliance IEPs. Edits made to an IEP during this workshop are for learning and practice purposes only. \n  \nThe IEP is a legally binding document that is developmental collaboratively with all members of the IEP team. Any revisions must be made through an IEP meeting.
