SUMMARY:Moving Beyond Indicator 13: Building Effective Transition Systems & Sustainable Practice
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Training and Consultation team for this IN-PERSON training series.\n\n\nThis two-part series supports school district teams and individual professionals with building a comprehensive\, research-based transition system. Together\, these sessions provide professional development to enhance practical tools\, strategies\, and planning structures to support districts in creating cohesive\, effective transition systems that lead to improved outcomes for students. \nPart one of this series\, participants will explore how to build a comprehensive\, research-based transition system using data to inform planning\, align practices with compliance\, and improve student outcomes. The session emphasizes sustainable frameworks\, collaboration\, and district-level action planning to strengthen transition services. \nThe final session of this series\, participants will develop or refine district-centered action plans to strengthen interagency partnerships and leverage community resources to improve transition services. Emphasis is placed on collaboration\, shared accountability\, and the examination of current partnerships\, service gaps\, and funding streams to enhance system effectiveness. \nAdditionally\, participants will define the role of the Transition Coordinator and identify actionable steps to sustain this position over time. SUMMARY:Building Bridges: Collaborative and Proactive Solutions to Student Behavior
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Training & Consultation Team for this IN-PERSON Training.\n\n\nCollaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS)\, developed by Dr. Ross Greene and outlined in The Kids Who Aren’t OK: The Urgent Case for Reimagining Support\, Belonging\, and Hope in Schools\, is a practical\, relationship-based approach to supporting students with challenging behavior. This session will explore how CPS can be used across all three tiers of a PBIS framework. Participants will learn simple\, usable strategies and tools to identify the real problems behind student behavior and engage students in solving those problems together. Instead of focusing on changing behavior in the moment\, CPS shifts the focus to understanding why the behavior is happening and working collaboratively with students to address those underlying challenges. The process is both proactive (addressing problems before they escalate) and collaborative (solving problems with students rather than doing things to them). Research shows that CPS not only reduces challenging behavior\, but also builds important skills such as flexibility\, frustration tolerance\, and problem-solving. Participants will leave with practical strategies and resources they can immediately apply in classroom and school setting.
