SUMMARY:ATSI Mathematics NIC
DESCRIPTION:A series designed to help educators focus on strong Tier 1 instruction and address the systemic issue of inequity in K-12 mathematics. \nATSI Mathematics Networked Community @ the AIU \nThe Math NIC is a 6-part hybrid series designed to help educators focus on strong Tier 1 instruction and address the systemic issue of inequity in K-12 mathematics. Each session will deeply focus on different high-leverage practices through a series of activities\, including discussion\, analysis and collaborative planning for classroom implementation. \nThe Math NIC will be an active\, ongoing\, and collaborative community of teachers who are committed to testing strategies to create student-centered learning communities that result in growth in students’ confidence and skills in mathematics through assessment\, meaningful and accessible tasks\, productive discourse\, and opportunities for real world\, collaborative problem-solving. \nPrice: Free for AIU ATSI school districts. \nAudience: ATSI schools- Grades 3-Algebra Mathematics Teachers\, Coaches\, and Administrators \nDates: \nSession 1: September 18\, 2024 In-person at the AIU \, 8:30 AM- 3:00 PM (full-day) \nSession 2: October 23\, 2024 Virtual Synchronous\, 8:30 AM- 11:30 AM \nSession 3: November 20\, 2024 Virtual Synchronous\, 11:30 AM- 2:30 PM \nSession 4: January 16\, 2025 Virtual Synchronous\, 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM \nSession 5: February 13\, 2025 Virtual Synchronous\, 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM \nSession 6: March 13\, 2025\, In-person at the AIU\, 8:30 AM- 3:00 PM (full-day) \nFor more details about the content focus for each session\, visit here \nAct 48 hours will be awarded pending approval by PDE for those who attend all sessions and complete related assignments. \nDon’t miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow! SUMMARY:Elementary Science Institute (Fall 2024)
DESCRIPTION:Content foci include life science\, physical science\, and Earth & space science. \nWho: Open to all grades K\, 1\, 2\, 3\, 4 or 5 science teachers \nWhen: September 19\, October 24\, and November 18\, 2024 \nWhere: In-person at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit \nPrice: Free to all AIU member district educators; Non-member districts: $450 (School district will be invoiced.) \nAdministrators are strongly encouraged to attend with the teacher(s) from their district/building \nAttendees will develop a shared understanding of phenomenon-based and problem-driven science teaching and learning that effectively incorporates all three dimensions of the science standards (disciplinary core ideas\, science and engineering practices\, & crosscutting concepts) and provides equitable\, inclusive instruction. \nParticipants will engage\, as learners and as teachers\, with the pedagogical practices that foster reasoning and sense-making in the science classroom and support equity and access for all students. They will also gain access to tools and resources for science teaching and learning at their grade band as they become familiar with what instruction in life\, physical\, and Earth/space science looks and feels like when implementing the science standards from PA STEELS. \nOver the course of the three days\, participants will explore the progression of the science standards from the PA Science\, Technology & Engineering\, Environmental Literacy & Sustainability (STEELS) standards within their grade band. \nAct 48 hours will be awarded pending approval by PDE for those who attend all sessions and complete all related assignments. \nQuestions?
