DESCRIPTION:Sessions will lead participants through an exploration of: \n\nhow reading skills develop\nthe component skills of reading including phonemic awareness\, phonics\, and fluency\nthe skills of vocabulary\, inference-making\, and content knowledge\neffective instructional practices and evidence-based intervention approaches\n\nEducators will leave prepared to administer and interpret assessments and implement effective classroom instruction including how to accommodate and modify content for students with complex communication needs. \nThis training series meets PA Act 49 Structured Literacy requirements. \n\nEvidence-based intervention practices on structured literacy\nExplicit and systematic instruction in phonological and phonemic awareness\nA) Alphabetic principle\, decoding and encoding; B) Fluency and vocabulary\nReading comprehension and building content knowledge

DESCRIPTION:Check-In/Check-Out (CICO) is a Tier II\, evidence-based\, behavioral intervention designed to support students by providing more frequent instruction regarding expected behavior\, increasing structured contact between students and adults in school\, providing a formal mechanism for students to receive feedback on their behavior and increasing opportunities for reinforcement contingent on expected behavior. This session will provide PBIS teams the necessary knowledge and skills to implement CICO within their buildings.
