Focus on Attendance Program
-
Focus on Attendance is a partnership between The Allegheny County Department of Human Services, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, the Fifth Judicial District of Pennsylvania and local schools.
This program works to ensure that attendance issues do not get in the way of educational success by working with Student Service staff to connect students and families to resources within their communities.
Focus on Attendance can also be used as a Community Based Attendance Improvement Program by school staff and is approved by the Fifth Judicial District as an Adjudication Alternative Program for the Magisterial District Courts.
-
Focus on Attendance facilitates positive communication between systems, provides technical assistance and offers coordination of services. Direct supports to children and families are provided by a variety of resources and services. The goal of the partnership is to implement the five recommendations from Pennsylvania Educational Success and Truancy Prevention State Roundtable and to establish a consistent county-wide approach to truancy that encourages positive school attendance.
