Chief Technology Officer
Jon Amelio is the AIU’s Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for the implementation of meaningful technological services that serve internal and external stakeholders. He has served in leadership positions for more than 20 years and has consistently delivered consumer-focused results that have increased operational efficiencies and organizational accountability. At the AIU, Mr. Amelio oversees the organization’s Information Technology Division that provides leading-edge, cost-effective technology solutions for the AIU and its member school districts. By gaining efficiencies through the leveraged use of current resources, Mr. Amelio has allowed the AIU to expand its technology offerings to school districts and other organizations. Before joining the AIU Mr. Amelio held management positions in the private sector in the internet, construction, consulting, manufacturing and energy industries.
In addition to his interest in technology, Mr. Amelio is also an educator and has served as an adjunct professor in the business and information systems fields. In 2016, Mr. Amelio was selected as a finalist for the Pittsburgh Technology Council's CIO of the Year Award in the Under 5,000 Employees category. He was also selected by Smart Business Magazine as a 2016 Pittsburgh Smart 50 Award winner. Mr. Amelio serves as a capstone simulation board member for the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business. He is also active in the local community having served on athletic boards and as a coach.
Mr. Amelio holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Robert Morris University.
