The Allegheny Intermediate Unit, also known as the AIU, is part of Pennsylvania's public education system and is one of 29 Intermediate Units created in 1970 by the Pennsylvania State General Assembly.  We provide specialized educational services to Allegheny County's 42 suburban school districts and five vocational/technical schools.

The AIU coordinates a wide variety of programs and services specifically for teachers and administrators through our six divisions:
