Family Support Centers help families help themselves and provide the resources they need to be strong. Strong families make strong communities where the hope of our children's future begins.

Fatherhood Initiative  Fatherhood Initiative 

The fatherhood program is designed to work with and support fathers to overcome the obstacles and barriers that they may encounter.  By providing the fathers with different opportunities and experiences it equips them to become more self-sufficient and nurturing in their role as a father.

First Steps First Steps 

The First Steps program is offered to all parents of newborns who reside in the McKeesport Area School District with voluntary home visiting services during the child's first five years. Contact is made with the mother in the hospital at the time of the child's birth and is followed by weekly home visits during the first six weeks of the child's life. The purpose of the home visits is to provide assistance requested by the parents in areas such as child rearing, preventive health care, and school readiness.

Lincoln Park and McKeesport  Lincoln Park in McKeesport After School Programs 

This is an after-school program for youth ages 6 to 12. Children are transported to the center from their respective schools and provided with educational support and enrichment activities as well as recreational programming.

Project Elect Project Elect 

Education Leading to Employment and Career Training (ELECT), works in collaboration with the Family Support Centers and the Duquesne, Penn Hills, and Wilkinsburg School Districts to assist pregnant and parenting teens in continuing their education and accessing support services necessary to ensure their continued success.

Homeless Childrens Initiative Homeless Childrens Initiative 

The Homeless Children's Initiative facilitates the education of homeless children and youth in nine counties in Region 4, which includes Allegheny, Beaver, Bedford, Fayette, Fulton, Greene, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland.

Family Literacy Program Family Literacy Program 

The Family Literacy Program serves families in school districts throughout Allegheny County, but focuses on eight school districts: Duquesne, McKeesport, Steel Valley, West Mifflin, Highlands, Sto-Rox, East Allegheny, and South Allegheny. The Family Literacy Program offers community outreach services as well as center-based services at a Homestead site. The program is available to parents with educational needs who have children under the age of eight. The adult education provides GED preparation, computer literacy, basic academic skills, and job readiness preparation.
