This ADAPT Manual is divided into two sections

Planning Tools helps educators successfully includ students with moderate to severe disabilities in general education classes.

Student Case Studies, from the primary, intermediate, middle and high school levels, describe students' present education levels and include actual samples of adapted learning activities which were used in the general education classes.

This manual assists teachers at the elementary and secondary levels:

  • Develop a plan for including students who are moderately to severely disabled in general education classes.
  • Develop unit plans in the content areas for key concepts.
  • Provide structured, consistent activities used to teach the key concepts.
  • Create adapted evaluation tools which test only the limited number of key concepts or skills.
