Project ELECT

Education Leading to Employment and Career Training (ELECT), works in collaboration with the Family Support Centers and the Clairton, Duquesne, East Allegheny, Gateway, Penn Hills, West Mifflin Area, Wilkinsburg, Woodland Hills and Sto-Rox School Districts to assist pregnant and parenting teens continue their education and access support services. The program places a significant focus on education, training, and employment goals which further assists teens as they move toward independence. To be eligible to participate in ELECT, a teen must be pregnant or parenting, in high school, working toward their GED, and not more than 21-years old.

Services provided through ELECT include:

  • educational support
  • parent and child interaction groups
  • transportation
  • parenting information
  • budgeting information
  • GED preparation
  • teen support groups
  • case management
  • summer activities/employment
  • computer access
  • counseling
  • resume and employment application assistance

Additional services are provided through various collaborators such as Head Start, Magee Women's Hospital, WIC, and YWCA.
