The Math & Science Collaborative
By working together, Southwest Pennsylvania can better prepare all students to fully participate in the ever-changing future as mathematically and scientifically literate citizens. The Math & Science Collaborative (MSC) coordinates efforts and focuses resources through innovative, evidence-based, regional approaches to the teaching and learning of mathematics and science from preschool through university. Founded in 1994 at the Carnegie Science Center, now supporting all schools in 11 counties, MSC has been headquartered in the AIU since 2002.
During the 2012-2013 school year, the AIU's Math & Science Collaborative partnered with the Carnegie Science Center, WTAE-4 and FedEx Ground to promote the study of math and science during the Math + Science = Success
awareness effort. Parents, teachers and students can go to http://www.mathsciencesuccess.org/
to learn more about events and activities related to math and science.
Everyone can learn math and science. The Math & Science Collaborative, the Carnegie Science Center, FedEx Ground, and WTAE-4 have teamed up in a campaign designed to counteract misconceptions and promote math and science education as keys to the future.
Thanks to the generosity of FedEx Ground, WTAE-4 is currently airing television commercials to promote the effort.
